American femme fatale band Grass
Widow replaces nostalgia for something a little
more celebratory of post punk. Tight knit three
piece with gorgeous vocals, this band presents the
dreamy soundscape of something you'd dance to in a
diner after the milkshakes had gone and the bikers
brought the fog in. The droning quality of the
backing vocals can be quite relaxing, but when mixed
with the heavy tempo and crisp guitar one can't help
but gyrate in their knee socks. There's something very
Electrelane / EraseEratta about this band's way of putting the
listener at ease while still conveying the fact that
underneath there lies evil and you shouldn't get too
comfortable.
Celebrate the mundane made me lean
my chair back on a precarious
angle while Rattled Call is a tempo change,
acapella start-stop-start wonder and I felt
compelled to put this song on this page even though
I originally had another on up here. There is power
behind this band. Their self titled 12" LP is out on
Make A Mess Records.
